Hilton Harvest Community Garden is Bloomin’ beautiful on a Wednesday morning when oldies, toddlers, mums/dads and bubs all converge to get crafty, get gardening and have a cuppa! The Buds n Blooms intergenerational gardening group have been meeting at the garden for four years.  It’s always there, every week, connecting people, and growing healthier bodies and minds for people of all ages. Everyone is welcome, aged 0-100.

Facilitator Sarah Nix says ‘It’s worth a visit to Buds just see the magic in action – kids, seniors, parents, chooks and veggies all make up this amazing web of community connectedness that is Buds n Blooms! And that’s what we all want in a community, isn’t it?’

The program started with various grants and in recent years has been funded by the fundraising efforts of the community garden itself. Now the group is looking to transition their funding model to be more sustainable by locking in a better membership system, business sponsorship and smarter fundraising.

This just takes a little (precious volunteer) time to set up and so they’ve set up a crowdfunding campaign to allow them that time (https://chuffed.org/project/buds-n-blooms-at-hilton-harvest) .

So to help keep this wonderful service ticking along they are asking for the community to kick in. Whether you visit Buds n Blooms now, have in the past, or might in the future, it’s heartwarming to know that you can tend to the social fabric of your community.

Hilton Harvest Community Garden

The Hilton Harvest Community Garden is located in the heart of Hilton (Rennie Crescent, Hilton, Western Australia). We started it in 2009 and since then, Hilton Harvest has evolved into a thriving community garden. The garden includes plots (allotment and community spaces), orchard, chooks, bush tucker, asparagus patch, composting systems and an olive grove.
